Will You Still Get Upgraded if you are in main cabin extra?
I am lifetime gold. Have never asked for or been upgraded. If I reserve main cabin extra at the airport will I still be upgraded if available?

No need to wait until you get to the airport to select MCE seats. They are free to Golds starting at 24 hours before departure, and you can select them then at aa.com, or on the AA app.

What part of "Main Cabin" you are in will have nothing to do with upgrades. However, in practice most upgrades are of people already in MCE because Plat and above get free MCE at booking, so why not?

Isn't an upgrade request automatically submitted when you book the ticket? If so, in the app, it should show "Requested" for the upgrade status once the ticket is booked.

That's the case now, but previously gold members had to request upgrades on flights above 500 miles.
