Web Specials - cancel & rebook if it's less?
I apologize if this question is in an obvious FAQ somewhere. I've done multiple searches and can't find an answer. I think it's because I'm not wording my question correctly. So I registered for an account so I could just ask.
If I book several web special award tickets, and the web specials are better later (fewer miles, 10k or more per ticket), can I/should I cancel and rebook to recapture some of the miles? (My trip is in 5 months.)
Thank you for your help.

Usually it's fair quick to instantaneous. Occasionally they get hung up and you have to call or DM AA on Twitter. I've also always had the fees refunded automatically but they usually take 3-5 days to hit my CC.

Not trying to hijack a thread, but I did this once and my held award was deleted without any communication. And then the price went up 25k, and the CSR was completely unapologetic and told me I was trying to cause spoilage and was somehow a villain.

It's best to do this quickly-within minutes, not hours or days.
