AA didn't credit me with a segment on an award ticket on 10/19 from PHL-AVL, but credited me the return on 10/25. What is the best way to contact AA to get my segment? I need this segment to get to my 30 before a bunch of international flights that i want to try to use SWUs for.

Just call AAdvantage Customer Service, not the normal reservations number, 800-882-8880.

I assume it ends with the status qualifying year, which now ends 2/28/23 after the LP changes.

I called and I got through surprisingly quick. The agent said she added the segment to my account. i got an email a couple minutes later showing the flight "mileage" request and saying it could take up to 30 days to reflect in my account. Not happy about that. i hope it appears sooner.

Anyone know how I can see which previous flights earned a segment or not?

I can only see my total segments earned so far and want to make I didn't miss out on a segment I should have gotten this year.

It was announced today that the segment requirement will be removed for the next qualification year, as per new loyalty program.

The counter just shows the total number of segments but there's no way to get any details other than that. You just have to manually verify.

Is there any indication in the activity section if a past flight earned a segment?

Not that I'm aware of. You just have to manually count all your segments then compare that to the segment counter.

Does anyone know if I book an AS mileage award for AA metal and put in my AA FF#, will this count as a segment?

Also, does anyone know where to find the segment counter on AA? Seems it is gone in the Promotions section of AA.

Is there a reason you're interested in counting AA segments? They're meaningless for status at this point.

As the Dude states, segments don’t matter in anyway (at least that I can think of). But if they did matter, an award segment would not count as a segment.

it is my understanding that I am only eligible for Loyalty Choice awards at the 125k++ level with 30 segments. It is also my understanding that *some* award segments count towards this requirement, but can’t find a definition as to which segments count.

You are living in the past. Refresh your browser, clear your cookies. The 30 segment requirement was only for the first year ('22-'23) of the Loyalty Point program. AA dropped that requirement last year going forward. Segments are meaningless now.

You’re absolutely right. I feel both foolish and relieved. The first google result for loyalty choice awards is the ‘22-23 info and I relied on that for my information. Thanks for the education. Hope this helps others looking for the same!
