MSP-PDX-SEA one-way award ticket rerouted to MSP-SEA-PDX-SEA

Got an email from AA for my May award flight from MSP to SEA with a change at PDX, operated by Alaska: "There's been a change in your trip". Obviously they realized that I was changing at PDX because I really wanted to go there, so when the MSP-PDX flight was canceled they rerouted me MSP-SEA-PDX-SEA.

Wait, what? Was the original ticket a connection or stop over ("connection" greater than 4 hours) in PDX?

Back when EQM were based on distance, this would have been awesome. Although, it is an award ticket, so not even then!

I flew IAH-DFW-HOU once and got EQM and EQS for it! Yay IRROPS!

I actually meant just flying the first segment and getting off there.

No, was 50 minutes at PDX. Now 1:25 at SEA and 1:23 at PDX. Means leaving MSP 4 hours earlier than the previous version.
