That will preserve the life of the SWU into 2023. But, the risk I guess is, if I and P2 don't clear then bye bye SWU. It's a 777 on 2/20/2023. If biz if full can the SWU at least get us up to PE (if there are seats). I am an EXP. So I guess the question is.. .what are the loads like on these 777 out of Hawaii?

Looking currently, it does look like a few days out there are some seats mid-week on the 789 even with C space. I don't follow the flows in and out of Hawaii, so any insight would be great.

I also wondered if it were possible to use SWUs to clear into PE rather than J on Hawaii routes.....are elites even allowed to waitlist for PE or it Y to J only?

10/23 - DFW-MCO - #3 on list. Only 1 cleared before we sat on plane with rolling mx delays.

Used ExP line to get confirmed on last flight out after multiple delays. Was not put on airport upgrade list. 2 cleared at gate.

10/25 - MCO-DFW - #3 on list and cleared at gate. 4 cleared into J on wide-body at gate.

This needs to go in the widebody thread....I wonder if it's just a one day thing or longer term?

Cleared my second upgrade this year as a Gold on an A319.

There is a god...

Cleared AUS - CLT - BOS as EXP for Sunday on 475 and 2252 immediately when the window opened as EXP. I think I'm probably 90%+ this year and based out of Austin, have been PPro most of the year, just hit EXP.

One question - I'm looking to switch some flights tomorrow for this trip actually. What's the best way to tell if I'll instant clear on the new flights? I'm a little flexible on flights, going to try to book around that.

You could look at the seat map but be very mindful that there could be F paxs that haven't selected a seat yet. If the seat map is very open you should be good. IME you won't be confirmed immediately but within about 1-2 your upgrade will process. Again, if the cabin is open. I've done that where AA was offering alternative flights when oversold and my upgrade chances were far better if I switched flights.

BOS-LAX Friday 8 am — cleared into J at the EXP window despite being J3 before the window. We went out with 16 on the list and no one clearing. Unfortunately no double dipping into F this morning.

my SO (also EXP) did not clear (separate PNRs) so she ended up doing the instant upgrade to F as it was cheaper than J, and given low prospects of a complementary upgrade.

Saturday morning MIADFW 788. 52 on the upgrade list, I was number 7 as a low spend EXP. One person cleared.

Dumb question that I cannot find the answer to. My mother is Executive Platinum status. She’s booked on a paid Transcon 321t in Flagship Business LAX-JFK in just under two weeks. There are currently 4 empty Flagship First seats.

Is she upgrade eligible for First?

When logging in she sees no upgrade request.

There are no complimentary upgrades J->F on the transcon flights. Miles/cash or SWUs only.

Thank you. Slightly OT question. I am on the same flight in the same cabin on a separate reservation. AA is offering me a J->F upgrade for $375 which seems like a good deal, but they are not offering her that - she and my brother are on the same reservation. If I buy the UG, are they okay with letting us switch seats?
