AAdvantage Buy Back and Boost / Buy Up Status

AA generally offers members reasonably close to requalifying for status near the end of the year the option to buy back their existing status, or on occasion to buy up to the next highest status tier.

These offers are generally made by email to AAdvantage members beginning some time in November.

If you have not received an offer or would like to see your offer (if any), you can see it by visiting https://elite.aa.com

If you haven’t flown sufficiently, you’ll probably sign in and see

No offers available

Thanks for visiting. Our records show that you’re not eligible to receive an fifer at this time. If you need more information about your account, visit aa.com/youraccount
Please peruse this thread to see offers reported by members.

I'm not sure, maybe if you do the purchase now with an AA card, the spend amount may get LPs, but I don't know. Might be better to use some other card which gives you points for travel as this would code as travel?

Of course it will get LPs the same as any other expenditure; 1 LP/$.

I got the offer to buy up to EXP in February for $2,900. At the time I was over on EQM but was about $2,900 short on spend. Flew another $600 worth of trips before the end of February…. My offer is still $2,900. At $2,300 I’m probably a buyer.

You Can Buy AAdvantage Gold Status for 2022

Got a flyer in the mail today that told me AA has a special offer, just for me! (haha).

The offer points to https://aa.com/status2022 that brings one to a login page, and then an offer to secure AAdvantage Gold status for 2022 that is valid through March 31, 2023. You can use a combination of miles or money to buy this unique gift: $1,535 or 153.5K miles.

I will not be flying enough in 2022 to pay that much for Gold status, but it might be worth it for others. At least we now know what value AA places on Gold status.

It is just for you. The cost/miles varies based on your status and travel last year. Once you login, your offer is revealed. Right now I am Plat. I have an offer to go to Plat Pro for $1985.00.

Or you could spend less than a quarter of that on the AA shopping portal and rack up 30k!

Doesn't anyone read the half-dozen threads on non-flying LPs?

Ha, I'm very aware of the non-flying methods to earn LPs...I was just curious at how one could earn 30k LPs with just 500 in spend.

It's so cool that AA "simplified" their program with LPs.

Not difficult.

Wrong.

It's quite easy, as a matter of fact.

Motley Fool 6200 LP for $86
Verizon 6200 LP for $39
Bright Cellars 3000 LP for $38
Spot & Tango 2500 LP for $16
Giftcards.com 3071 LP for $24
Hello Fresh 2000 LP for $23
Sunbasket 3700 LPs for $27
Byte 4650 LPs for $128

Total 31321 LPs for $381. And of course 31321 RDM.

I'm not even counting double dips and stacking deals. BTW I've received all of the above and a ton more.

Thanks for sharing this. I'm shaping up to a decent amount of expensive shorthaul this summer. I used to earn almost no mileage in the old program (particularly when no-status pax didn't benefit from 500 EQM minimums), but have a decent shot at PLT under the current scheme. Juicing some some easy LPs will help.
