AA Deploys 77W on JFK/CDG
Anyone else notice that the 77W / 777-300 is now on JFK->CDG and being sold as a 3 cabin product? Did I miss the announcement? I'm also seeing roundtrip J fares originating in CDG for $1,800, which is amazing

Sold as 3-class or 4-class? The 77W aircraft have First, Business, Premium Economy, and Economy.
(And yes, AA announced a while back that the 77W would be deployed on several ex-JFK routes, including CDG.)

I have done a quick search for rt LAX-AMS in 9/2022 and business class fares are over $3,000. Premium Econ is not cheap either with fares around $2,000.

Jealous of this sort of thing. It's tough to connect through JFK on AA but trans-atlantic pricing is often so good with O/D fares out of there, and now the upgauge too!
Good things come to those who live in competitive markets. The rest of us just pay high fares for mid-con domestic flights on E145s and other inferior aircraft......

The 77W used to fly to HKG and TYO a lot, and it's wasted on those destinations right now. It would seem to make sense putting it on a route that a competitor operates First on (and CDG is a more established AA station than FRA, ZRH, or MXP), but it's odd to me that they are trying to compete with La Premiere. I feel like AA could at least include Five Star Service in the price of this route.

AA could compete as "that cheaper alternative to La Premiere" if they drastically lowered the price of F to entice business away from AF. That's really the only way. If the price points were equal, who would opt for mediocre food and potentially indifferent, poor, or even hostile service on AA over AF's incredible product?
