Same Ticket, different FF status

I reached Platinum Pro two days ago and while it's reflected online, something weird seems it have happened with my flight today. One of the legs of the outbound was upgraded at about the 24 hr mark but the other was not.

When the agent printed my BPs today, one of them shows me as OW Sapphire, and the other (the upgraded one) shows me as Emerald. I get that there can be weirdness with existing reservations when status changes, but this wrinkle caught me a bit by surprise.

And here I was annoyed Alaska had RUBY written on my digital boarding passes... as an Emerald... I just assumed it was because I was Ruby when I booked the ticket or they only tell each other our status' every once in a while. But here your situation is AA 100 percent, right?

I'm sure the answer has something to do with reaching Plat Pro two days ago and likely doesn't have a fabulous explanation. Likely the upgrade pulled a forced refresh of your account?

Exactly correct. Not sure why it wouldn't update both BPs, though (unless they were separate PNRs).

Same PNR, all AA ticketed/operated. One of the great mysteries of the AA IT universe.
