Those seats are reserved for handicap passengers on AS but it doesn't make them unbookable, but they do warn you that you may be moved if they are needed. Given the fact that I've been flying AS for years and years and have never been asked to move once, I think I would take that chance and book those seats.

45 Minutes before scheduled departure (but at that point, you can't change seats via the app)

I usually see them open up at T-24. I've moved into them at checkin a few times when non middle MCE was not available at booking
