I was in Spain at the end of my Air Force tenure and the flight back to the states was on an Air Force military passenger jet. I learned that every USAF passenger jet had all backward facing seats. This was considered a safety feature since in the event of a hard landing everyone would be pushed into the seat back instead of arcing forward. However, this was not adopted by commercial airlines because it was felt that the flying public would not go for it. Kind of funny since people sit on trains facing backward and don't really worry about it.

I always try to book 2A/2L in any version of the 788/789/772, to get the backward facing seats near the front, in case of aircraft changes. Backward seats are more private, safer in a case of an accident, and a tad safer for COVID (especially 2A/2L).

The only thing that tips in favor of fwd facing for me is the takeoff feeling. That feeling of being pushed backwards into your seat is excellent.

Some people sensitive to motion sickness and disorientation may not prefer to fly backwards, however I think rarely is the source of complaints with Concept D specifically just that some of the seats face backwards. After all Q-suites is considered a if not the best business class and it has alternating forward and backwards seats as well. I like flying backwards, better views over the wing.

I've traveled backwards on planes a few times and many times on trains and buses.
Makes no difference to me
Good to hear that there are folks averse to rear facing seats, that way they leave them up for grabs for those of us that do not mind them.

i guess i recall the feeling at takeoff or landing when facing backwards the first few times but frankly i much prefer that over forward facing. literally hundreds of flights later i ensure i opt for a backwards facing seat on BA and AA when i can. definitely more comfortable for me.
