AA 757 Long-Haul Replacement - A321 & 787-8
With American's 757-200 retired, this puts the future of several long-haul routes into question.
From what it looks like, the 757 has been completely pulled out of American's schedule.
AA has recently loaded several 757 replacements:
- PHL-EDI going 788 upon resuming in March 2021 (just loaded).
- DFW-LIM going 788 upon resuming on August 19, 2021.
- MIA-LIM going 788 from March 28, 2021. (1 of 3 daily)
- MIA-BSB going A321(ceo) upon resuming in October 2020. Still wondering how this will work considering the route's 3,600 miles. I guess this aircraft may not be finalized?
- PHL-KEF going A321neo upon launching in June 2021.
The remaining Phoenix to Hawaii routes appear to have all been converted to A321neos.
I suppose it's possible PHL-SNN/CMN could see the A321ceo/neo given they're around the range of MIA-BSB?

I haven't seen any other than the original CLT-LHR A333 -> 772 replacement.
There's also PHL-LHR going from A333 to 788 but that's subject to change.
As for the 757, PHL-KEF will now see the A321neo according to Airlineroute

All my summer E190 legs were replaced by A319s. Interestingly, I have a few OKC-LAX legs this summer that were all originally Compass E175s, and they all changed to A319s as well. That is a significant upguage, and the first I can recall seeing mainline on that route. It has always been Compass or Skywest for as long as I can remember.

319 on the BOS-LGA leg
SJC-LAX was aa6021 e175 now aa2990 cr7
LAX-SJC was aa6064 e175 now aa3165 cr7
interesting question: are those flights eligible for an routing change cause of equipment change? CoC allows it but i think i have to pay for that ... is that correct?

It looks like Compass is not coming back to LAX. That's sad because the E175 was a great product. I wonder if all the slack will be picked up by mainline and Skywest? I would have to wonder if some of the thinner routes from LAX will be lost. The CR7 is not as comfortable as the E175 and it has a bit less range; however, it's not too bad.
It is my understanding that if there is a change in operating carrier you are eligible for a full monetary refund. Whether thst extends to a free routing change I am not sure.

Compass is not coming back period. They shut down operations completely and closed as a company.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if any of the long thin routes out of LAX will be losing service. I wonder how many routes will be back-filled with Skywest CR7s. I cant imagine that routes like TUL, XNA, etc can support mainline.
