Yes. I just read that elsewhere. I suppose the Barclaycard rep was not being truthful when she told me that I could apply for it later on.
What are everyone's thoughts keeping the Barclaycard AA Aviator Red vs. the Citi AA cards? Or any reason to keep both?

If you can keep both open without paying any further annual fees, keep both open.

I think more likely she didn't know. I honestly don't think most of the reps have been given information about the Aviator cards yet.

Regarding Aviator Red versus Citi Platinum, in addition to waived foreign transaction fees, the Aviator Red has a lower annual fee, will be chip and pin (although with signature priority) and, for some card holders, provides 10000 bonus miles upon every renewal.

Okay. I just got my annual 10000 bonus miles (it is still a US Airways card for me). Is that bonus only for some cardholders? How is that determined?

I guess the 10,000-mile bonus is given to those who got the card through an offer that promised it, and Barclays has said that this bonus will continue on the future AA card. Since there hasn't been a general announcement of the Aviators card, I'm not sure if it's been said that those who upgrade to Silver will get this bonus.

It sounds to me as though the chip & pin (even as back-up) with no FTF and the 10% mileage rebate (up to 10K) will be the big draws.
The companion pass would've been great, but I don't think I want to deploy $30K of spending to the card. So a swing and a miss, at least for me.

The biggest thing I want to personally confirm is whether or not we will be able to earn 10K EQM from both the Citi and Barclays cards year after year. I will gladly do the spend knowing that I effectively only need to fly 80K miles to reach EXP. One can hope...^

Will the Aviator Silver be offered to anyone that wants it after they have the USAirways card or is this going to be the 'select criteria' game that we have seen before on Barclaycard product upgrades ? Just wondering as that will determine for me and maybe some others on whether its even worth applying for the USAirways card. The silver has perks I'm interested in, red not so much
Thanks

One of my Barclays US Airways cards has a January anniversary date. I received my companion certificate for 2015 so I was not too troubled about paying the $79 annual fee. I called Barclays yesterday to advise them that I will be in Mexico on vacation. During the conversation, I inquired about what my benefits would be going forward. The representative did not know but connected to US Airways for some reason. Annoyed at being transferred to US Airways, I called back and was transferred to the proper Barclays representative. I was curious whether I would be offered an Aviator card. The representative did not offer an Aviator but started to read off the benefits most of which I told her were worthless to me. She then, unsolicited, offered to waive my $79 membership fee. Of course, I said that was fine.

Trying to Changing from Aviator Red to Aviator Silver
I am having a hard time changing my current Usair Dividends Miles card (aka Aviator Red) to an Aviator Silver.
Called Barclaycard and everyone there is totally in the clouds about how to do that other than applying for a new Aviator Silver to begin with which I don't want to do (add another card to my portfolio)
Has anyone been able to pull a change from Red to Silver and if so how were you able to pull it off ?
Most appreciated

Got email today introducing the new AAdvantage Aviator Red Mastercard and talking up the 50% bonus miles promo. Looks like Red is almost here.
