Access changes from AA
  • Flagship Lounge access AA: Starting in mid 2017, Flagship Lounge access is extended to customers booked in Business and First Class on A321T three class transcon, Trans-Atlantic, Trans-Pacific and deep South American flights, as well as EXP/EMD, PPRO & PLAT/SAP on qualifying flights in any class of service.

See and discuss in Expanded Access to Flagship Lounge Coming "in Spring 2017"

  • Flagship First Dining access: First Class customers on American’s 3-class international and transcontinental flights will have exclusive access to FlagshipSM Dining in 2017.

(This has put Flagship Dining into a category similar to the BA Concorde Room and a few other lounges - not oneworld lounges, restricted to long haul Flagship (three class) First passengers on AA marketed and operated flights only.)

  • Admirals Club access: No announced or predicted access changes.
However, thirty day memberships are no longer available as of 25 Jul 2016, and One Day Pass cost has increased to $59. Annual Club memberships increased in price in 2016.

Let this serve as a warning. If you guest anyone into the AC, you'll become forgetful. I learned my lesson.

I’ve been as critical of AA over the last two years as anyone and still really dislike the new lounge design style in the bigger clubs throughout the system....

... but I absolutely have to say that AA hit a home run with the ORD Flagship Lounge (and I unlike many here loved the old K Flagship Lounge ORD). First time here today — what a fantastic lounge for a US carrier...anywhere.

It is just too bad this is to fight UA to a draw with Polaris rather than being part of a larger strategy like the old Horton vision to actually be a first class international airline.

I just don’t understand why AA puts so much money into the lounge experience and then so little to the onboard food and beverage. We spend much more time onboard than in the FL.

There are multiple reports dating back a few days indicating the FL in MIA is open. There's a whole thread about it. It's open as on 21 Nov. And Flagship First Dining is open, too.

Too much turkey for me! You are right. I am confusing MIA and LAX.

IAH - Showers?

Does the IAH AC have showers? The AA web site says no but I wanted to check with the experts. We have a connection through IAH and would love to shower there. Thanks in advance.

It does not. Additionally, although just recently opened, IAH doesn't seem to follow the brand minimums for bathrooms. The men's bathroom has half-door stalls and only one urinal. Perhaps this is all TMI, but the re-opened lounges elsewhere have the full-door, cabin-style stalls and plentiful sinks and urinals. If a lounge is that space-constrained, perhaps it would be wiser to design the place with three or four, single-use bathrooms. That's an improved experience to a crowded, school-type toilet.

In addition to the bathrooms, the rest of the club is also quite compact.
