Why was AA974 on 4/4 cancelled (to merge)

About 20 hrs before flight time, flight was cancelled

Reservation phone rep said "operational" that was all she knew

GIG AC said inboound turned around and went back.

I want to send AA CS email and would like to know the facts

THANKS

Looks like you know most of the facts. AA 973 JFK-GIG diverted back to JFK, so no plane to operate AA 974. Are you just looking for why AA 973 diverted?

The flight significantly reduced speed (400kts) when it diverted, so I'm guessing mechanical problem. But just a guess.

I checked the AA cargo sight, sometimes they have something. But it just showed cancelled. Someone with inside information will maybe post here

it was canceled for operational reasons. I would consider that to be a non-weather issue and would appreciate AA compensating me.......just as a EU carrier would
At that level, I don't see a reason to know the full details, other than to know it was not due to weather
