There was a lot of severe turbulence and wind shear in Reno the past few days. This was most likely the issue.

I’d rather opt for safety. I still remember DL 191, an L-1011, encountering wind shear at DFW - with 137 deaths, 28 injuries, in 1985. Link.

What happened to AA5579 from HSV - DCA that it got diverted to IAD? Did it really then fly from IAD to DCA?

While not great IAD has been slightly better today and was good enough to land there.

AA FLT#1405 diverted to PHX (Jan 12, 2018)
Hi all,
I look my iPhone and I went onto FR24. I hear AA FLT#1405 is diverted to PHX by last night. This flight is on the way from JFK to San Diego. Does anybody know about this? What is happening there? Is that medical diversion?

SAN has a hard curfew due to runway construction. Midnight I believe or you divert.

Looks like fog between 10 and 11 PM. This has happened several time this "winter" - it's been so warm in the day that the dewpoints have been in the mid 50's. That said - the fog cleared at 11 or so but with the runway construction there's no margin for error or go arounds. The earlier DL JFK-SAN flight diverted to ONT as did several others - in fact AA ran 3 section ONT-SAN today between 10 and 11 - time for the crew to go legal I suppose. Wonder if they ran buses?

1/12/18 AA6031 LAX-SEA @4:45pm delayed until 6:30 due to lack of crew (held up by SFO fog).
I had monitored our inbound aircraft and knew it was there. It showed on time until a few minutes after boarding should have started when I received an alert from the app that the new departure time was 6pm (and of course some further rolling delays when it became obvious we weren’t going to make the rescheduled time). Can’t blame AA for the fog but surely they knew before we were due to board that our crew hadn’t even departed SFO.
The delay caused a misconnect for us in SEA to an ANC flight on AS so they put us on the non-stop. That was fine other than a very long day at LAX. The worst part is that apparently our original AS flights weren’t correctly cancelled so our return flight from ANC disappeared from our reservation (cancelled by AS) so I’ve been on the phone with AA (this was all booked on aa.com) for almost an hour while they work with AS on getting that flight back for us. I’m glad I checked the app and discovered this before trying to check in!

Last week, AA127 DFW-PVG had to stop in ICN due to headwinds and rain in PVG requiring us to fuel up.
After landing in Seoul, it was > 2 hours before ANY announcements so we had no clue what was going to happen. Ended up staying on the plane for >3 hours as crew timed out and we spent the night in Seoul. Was a total disaster (refused to pull checked bags so we could re-route ICN-final destination; took forever on the plane to get our paper boarding passes handed out for the next day; zero communication from AA on when we would leave ICN until the hotel called my room ~20 mins before the bus left; had to trash duty free items bought in DFW since we couldn't take them through security in ICN and didn't have checked bags to put them in; etc). They did put us up in the Oakwood at ICN and provided meals/transportation, but still didn't come close to making up for the issues it caused. 90% of the issues could have been resolved if we got bags in ICN.
