Odd Flight AA 9445 today (22 Sep 2017 - charter flight)

Odd Flight AA 9445 today (22 Sep 2017 - charter flight)
Can anyone explain this flight to me (it was the inbound plane for my later DFW-BOS flight)? Re positioning flight after a charter? Or something else? It's not like they do maintainance at XNA, right? I don't think it is an inbound charter because of the gates involved.

Bentonville / Fayetteville to Dallas/ Fort Worth

Well the inbound flight was a DFW-XNA flight...Charters or any non-regularly scheduled flights generally use 9XXX flight numbers. No idea, I would assume it was a charter of some kind.

Based on what we heard when we got on the plane, I believe this was correct. The fact that the inbound gate was "HGR" threw me off.

(They apparently had food catered on the flight and the cabin was trashed so it took awhile for the plane to get cleaned and us to board.)

9400-series flights are charters. AA typically uses "HGR" or "PAD" as a placeholder gate number when the flight isn't leaving from or arriving at a regular gate.

As an inbound charter with lots of poeple on, I'm suprised it didn't arrive at a normal gate. That was the basis of my confusion.
