Heavies / widebody at PHX?

So I was casually looking at flight availability for a flight I'm on (669 next Tuesday) to PHL on the typical 321 'bus. J7. Cool.

Anyway I happen to look at the next flight out below it and what do I see...

AA 776 0 PHX
07/18/17 12:10 PM PHL
07/18/17 7:42 PM
332
Daily
77% / 18m J7 D7 I1 Y7 B0 H7 K7 M7 L7 G7 V7 S7 N7 Q7 O7 E0

Either I haven't been looking hard enough or something else but I've never seen a A330 at PHX!

If SDC comes up for that flight I will swap quicker than humanly possible.

The 332 has been in PHX before, we were on it to both PHL and CLT last year but those trips were in the winter.

Is it regularly scheduled equipment? Does it have the lie flats?

I don't know how often it is scheduled in the system but it will have the lie flat seats. A great ride to PHL from PHX. Last year we flew PHX-PHL-AMS and it was unusual the fly the 332 in business to PHL and then the 757 in business to AMS. The equipment seemed backwards to go from a 332 to a 757 on that trip.

Yup; I flew a 330 from PHX to PHL on a redeye a couple of Decembers back. They do rotate on PHX routes from time to time.

Maybe we could have a consolidated thread as these show up:

Expect to start seeing this more often as well.
Nothing on the scale of what UA does, but certainly more domestic widebody usage than current flight patterns.

Works for me. Funny I started a thread on UA a year ago or so about how they are starting to fly heavies on domestic routes.

Let's hope AA follows. I would think it would make sense to use them flying to airports that have later long haul/overseas flights.

What 757 was that and are they still in rotation?
That 757 was the LUS airplane with a business class product that I believe is mostly, if not completely, gone. I had it a few times from PHX-CUN over the years.

The PHX-PHL 332 flight actually arrives from CLT as AA 600
Routing is CLT-PHX-PHL

Looks like it's just cycling between PHL-CLT-PHX-PHL

And we know that AA will have a seasonal PHX-HNL flight starting 12/15 on an A333.

I pointed this plane out to my daughter this morning while we waited in "the club". It was at gate B-24 so it was right below the East facing windows. When we went down to go to our flight (EWR) I looked to see where it was going and PHL was the place...

My wife and have a feb rt on this and I'm super excited to not have the 757 in J on the red eye home. Interestingly enough there was a ton of C inventory and it was an easy upgrade...

I know this is the AA forum, but DL sometimes rotates widebodies onto ATL-PHX-ATL in winter. It's not all winter, and it's only a flight here or there, I think, but seems to happen sporadically every winter. In the past I've seen 330s doing this on occasion. Looks like one of the turns becomes a 764 on 1/3/18 (schedule subject to change of course).
