Anyone have any idea why this flight was diverted?

Obviously not too critical since they overflew many diversion airports on their way back...

Based on the Flightaware history, it would appear it had initially planned to divert to SEA but refiled a return to station to get back to LAX.

I'm guessing toilets or a part that was ETOPS critical, but not safe flight critical.

Backup cabin pressurization? That turned around one of my flights an hour out of HNL once.

That is certainly an option. Also, an AC pack or some engine deice backup. Lots of "little things" that you can MEL on a non-ETOPS flight.
