Advice needed: Using AA points for oneworld bookings

Does anyone know how I can use my AA miles for oneworld partner airlines? I'm a little confused about the process and I've only ever booked award travel through aa.com. Do I need to sign up for award programs with partner airlines to view their available award travel, and is it 1:1 for miles used?

Welcome to FlyerTalk.

As you can imagine, using AAdvantage miles for award trips on partner airlines is a popular topic.

We have a master thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...ssistance.html. The Wikipost at the top of the thread is what you'll want to read first, because it contains a lot of useful information to be aware of to successfully book awards.

We will close this thread and refer you there (we may merge it into the Newbie Lounge sticky thread soon).

Enjoy using your Award Miles!
