Check out this article and some of the quotes from Isom's letter to employees about the summer operation.....seems to blame weather on the operation this summer. I don't think these people get it, even this dude.
All of my issues (even going back to pre-summer), which were MANY, never had anything to do with weather just poor planning, bad maintenance and surprising last minute "discoveries" of issues with the plane which resulted in hours long delays. https://www.thestreet.com/story/1369...n-falters.html :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: |

What did you expect him to say? "Our operations stank this summer be cause the management sucks" - I don't think that is going to happen. That statement is just some spin. However, I do have confidence that Isom will get it together. He did a great job as the COO at US and now that penny-pinching Kirby is out of the way, he can focus on running a operationally strong carrier...

I could maybe understand these things if they were barely getting by, but with the profits they've been making lately it's inexcusable. I have a friend who flies DFW-ATL-DFW every week for business and the same flight is delayed/cancelled week after week on the day he takes it for "mechanical" reasons (who really knows on these things). People are getting fed up. |

Basically, I don't think the issues are Parker & Company's fault. I mean technically, yes, but its like take a F-18 pilot of 15 years, having flown nothing else, and with no training him sticking him in the cockpit of a 77w with pax. Will he fly her? Sure......will it be the most comfortable landing / flight for the pax? Perhaps. Would you want him handling an emergency? Probably not. Technically he can do the job, but in reality, the job he was trained all his life to do is VERY different from the one you now ask of him with no training. ~TG |
Today... Delayed out of LHR.
Today...arrive LAX one hour late. Sit on tarmac for one hour. Misconnect. AA really needs to address these problems. Time is money and if I take a short trip, which is often the case, I can't afford these chronic delays.. I read something were a new AA employee placed the blame on the summer weather. Give me a break! I love AA but I would love to see some accountability here. |
Let's see my inbound flight from LGA to dfw was delayed by half and hour. Outound originall was scheduled to leave 6min after scheduled flight now has been delayed for 40 min. Pilot originally says we got a minor delayed then it turns to Mechanics are looking for some screws. .... Were at your HEADQUARTERS you can't find a few screws for your most common aircraft. Still sitting idle Ina half empty plane.
Aa140 http://flightaware.com/live/flight/AAL140 Just got update from the pilot. Another 30 minute delay..... While aa's app slowly updates its progress after the fact every 10minutes Overall expected delay one hr for what appears to be missing screws I hope this is the final update. Apparently some screw related to the flap of something that is not part of the structure got stripped or whatver. Legally they can't fly without it fixed but mechanically it is safe to fly per the pilot. ...... They Gona waste probably another 30min to get the part off and I think document it for FAA reasons and fly without whatver. I am no mechanic all I cared about when were leaving than the reasons behind it cuz I don't care what the publisher I just know u guys flew an older 738 for my route... |

This delay creep is still happening. AA5, already delayed 5+ hours when I woke up this morning now is going in 15 minute increments. Maybe they should have retired this 763!

It's been nice that my last trip (BWI-DFW-CLT-BWI) and the first half of this one (BWI-ORD-SMF) have all left on time - and even a little early. It's a welcome change - hope it keeps up.
Bonus: BWI-ORD (Eagle) and ORD-SMF in F actually served PDBs! We'll see how Saturday goes - and next week. |
Was supposed to fly AA 2489 DFW-LAX connecting to AA 83 to AKL on sunday. Delayed, then delayed more, then more, finally delayed past MCT. While standing at gate for AA flight i see QF8 gate right next to us getting staffed. Walk over, ask if they have any J seats (SWU had cleared LAX-AKL). They say yes, they had some misconnects so J opening up (an hour earlier in Admiral's Club i had asked if they could move us to that flight and she showed me her screen showing J0). Sprint back to Admirals Club, get them to move my wife and me onto QF8 in J to SYD and then onto QF 141 to AKL. A little more flying, and in to AKL a little later than the AA flight, if we make connection, but we got to fly J on QF for the first time and first time on the A380, so that was fun. As it turns out, AA83 got delayed 2 hours and we would have made the flight no problem, but that's okay, was fun to fly QF.
So, sometimes all those delays work out for you. 2 years ago DFW-NRT (connecting to CGK flight) got delayed and I ended up flying CX most of the way, that was fun too. |

So glad the protection of the cleared SWU was made available to you-- we hear many stories of agents either not knowing (or not willing to find out) the policy-- great that you knew to ask! ^

I guess it's to pressure people into buying J/F

Do you think RM has been clearing SWUs later and later to avoid having to accommodate given the frequent delays?
