AKL, HKG, SYD Business flights get pajamas, mattress pads, new food

American will be providing "enhanced" food items, seat mattress pads and pajamas / pyjamas to Business Class passengers to / from Auckland, Hong Kong and Sydney. A couple of FTers have mentioned bits and pieces of the enhanced Business experience.

You didn't see the announcement that AA is sending a 773 to a remote western Alaska airport with a 4,000 ft gravel runway?

From LIT, in a W-pattern with their NRT service.

Back on topic: Is this rollout immediate? I'd sure love to experience it on SYD-LAX next month.

Only from LIT.

These are already being reported, so unless there are route enhancement startup bumps you should have them, to the best of my knowledge.

I was on the SYD-LAX (AA72) last Friday and got some of the best wagyu beef carpaccio I've had in a long time and pajamas. I left the pajamas on board as the L/XL were too short for my 6'5" legs.

These have been provided to SYD for a while now. Food si great, PJs are nice (different than F PJs) but 100% cotton, L/XL usually runs out. Mattress pad is great, saves me form having to bring my own blanket to lay on the seat. Great news if they expand these to HKG and AKL.

I got PJs and a seat mattress cover in J on SYD-LAX about 2 months ago. It was great.

Then they'd swim on me... or the pants would fall off when I got up.

We had it last Wednesday, June 15. Mattress Pads, Pajamas. Food was acceptable, nothing special.

Seat mattress pads, you mean the FAs would have to make your bed now? And you thought that the 137/138 FAs were cranky before, lol...

If tonight's sampling at the launch event was an accurate preview, then here's the menu they provided for LAX-AKL:

Canape:
Salmon Caviar Tartlet

Main Plates:
Grilled Beef Filet, balsamic butter, twice baked potato, baby squash
Eggplant Lasagne, pomodoro sauce
Pesto Grilled Shrimp

Dessert:
Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream (Cherry Garcia, Chocolate Brownie, Strawberry Cheesecake)

Mid-Flight Snack:
Angus Beef Slider

White Wine:
Mt. Beautiful Sauvignon Blanc, North Canterbury, NZ

Red Wine:
Opawa Pinot Noir, Marlborough, NZ
