AA 193
LAX-HKG
11/27/2018
Not sure why the AA online system called it a stir-fry, but it was actually braised beef. Beef was a bit dry and chewy, but the veggies and rice was quite decent. They also miscatered this flight and had less PE meals than there were passengers, so one or two people got regular economy meals instead. I had the PE western breakfast while my travel companion had the Economy western breakfast. Quality was different between the two, particularly the ham (PE = slices of ham “steak” that were thicker; Econ = one slice of deli ham that were thin and meant to be put inside a sandwich).
Mid flight snack was a basically a cheese pizza hot pocket and a cup of ice cream. Appreciated the ice cream, but the hot pocket was a disgusting soggy mess.

Food on the return HND-LAX last week was more disappointing than the flight out. However, the most infuriating thing was that they didn’t have a special meal preorder, and one cabin crew was incredibly rude throughout the flight. Shame, because the other crew members all were polite and helpful.
Same lnnthe flight out.

I'm on it. Flying DFW-NRT in PE on 12/16, I have chosen Asian Vegetarian (lunch). Of course, I have an SWU waitlisted and the cabin is only 19/35 full so we'll see... but if I miss, I'll post a report.

For HKG-LAX in F on 12/23, I have the following options:
This is the first time, as far as I'm aware, that the four-option "beef, chicken, fish, or veg" are all alternates (lamb, squab, shrimp, tofu).
But I don't think that will stop the FAs from calling the lamb "the beef" or the squab "the chicken."
I'm going with the lamb chops for now.
- Salt Pepper Lamb Chops
red miso glazed pumpkin, jade rice, plum pinot noir sauce - Foie Gras Stuffed Squab
potato lotus flower, roasted tomatoes, cranberry demi-glace - Noodle Crusted Jumbo Shrimp
braised bamboo, hot and sour mushroom sauce - Marinated Fried Tofu Steak
egg noodles, lo sui sauce
But I don't think that will stop the FAs from calling the lamb "the beef" or the squab "the chicken."
I'm going with the lamb chops for now.

Christmas Menu?
Hello, occasional visitor from the BA board here.
I have my first AA longhaul flight coming up, flying LHR / MIA on AA 39 on 22nd December in F. The lunch choices are extremely uninspiring:
Otherwise I'm really not sure what to choose - I have seen pictures and descriptions of the umami tenderloin up-thread and it does not inspire me! Having a surprise turkey dinner is my biggest hope right now.
Thank you very much for any knowledge regulars may have.

Lunch meals
- Choose later
- Umami Crusted Beef Tenderloin, confit barrel chips, mushroom ketchup
- Citrus-Grilled Hake, Gin Mare sauce, Seville orange segments, asparagus
- Corn-Fed Chicken, braised chorizo and runner beans

Hi all!
Normally a BA flyer, but have due to a schedule change been reacommodated on an AA DFW-LHR. Flying Economy Plus(?), curious if the meal will be standard economy meal or something a bit nicer. All input appreciated.

If, however, you're in Main Cabin Extra, then that's just regular economy with better legroom and a regular economy meal.

Surprised to see five choices for my upcoming DFW-NRT (just cleared 5 days out). Lunch flight. Going with top option unless someone says it's a terrible idea. Will post pics on the flip side.
- Traditional Japanese Meal
- "Dainomono: grilled pork filet with yuzu miso sauce, grilled sea bass ""yu-an"" style"
- Porcini Crusted Filet Mignon
- chanterelle mushroom corn pudding, roasted asparagus, Café de Paris butter
- Bourbon-Glazed Salmon
- fig and roasted pepper orzo, sugar snap peas, cherry tomato
- Santa Fe-Style Enchiladas
- roasted squash, baby spinach, queso fresco, grilled corn
- Dainomono
- simmered chicken sukiyaki style, grilled salmon with Japanese-style tartar sauce
