Quito-Dallas A319 Business Class

Hi guys. The redeye non-stop A319 UIO-DFW flight works well with my schedule and I'm thinking about booking it. I expect to get the standard new AA A319 domestic F seats (though marketed as Business Class on South American flights); AA lists Dinner and Breakfast for the meals. Has anyone taken this flight recently? Please share your thoughts.

I was on it a couple of days ago (on the 20th).

I was in Y (row 14, not bad at all) and even though dinner and breakfast were listed as meals I only got what must have been a "refreshment" after departure. It was a cold sandwich, some fruit and a granola bar. Perhaps J was different, but I didn't pay attention.

I would never buy J on this plane—when I bought my ticket it was only 100 bucks more for J but since row 14 was available I didn't even bother. Just took a sleeping pill and passed out.

Ah, the plane is pretty quiet, I took a 757 flight after that one and boy was that loud after being in the 319.

Thanks so much for your detailed response. I actually really like the intimate 8-seat cabin on the new A319s but I'm surprised AA is listing two meals on this flight.

Unfortunately out of Quito, there aren't mAAny choices... I try to avoid the old config 767-300 and I'm not a fan of AA's old 757s either.

You would prefer a regular domestic F seat over a(n angle) flat seat?

Actually, the 767 that is flying MIA-UIO-MIA (flights 939 and 932) is a refurbished one, which is waaay better than the 319. I would certainly try to get into those flights if at all possible. Even the old 757 (flights 946 and 947) would be a huge upgrade from the 319, IMO.

If I were booking J for this route—unless it really screwed up my schedule—I would certainly go out of my way to fly to MIA and get into the 767 or the 757 (preferably the 767.)

Absolutely. And I can't imagine preferring the crappy A319 front cabin to even old 763 front cabin either-- it makes no sense.

Same. I just flew the A319 on a 40 minute flight in 1F and oh dear. Can't imagine being on that thing any longer than that. Either 767 is infinitely better.

Yup.
If you're in Y row 14 is not bad at all, and the plane is pretty quiet so that helps sleeping. If you can't get row 14 then you are screwed up big time.

Not all the time... on my travel dates it clearly shows the 2x2x2 configuration, not the new 1x2x1 one.

Yea, you're right, AA will sometimes change the equipment. But still, any 763 will be better than the 319.

I have had too many bad experiences on the old 763s and those ancient filthy lavs gross me out. I'm pretty short so the new A319 F seats are fine for me and I will get much better entertainment than on the old 763s.

Here's my plan: UIO - DFW (A319) then pay for a hotel room at DFW until the evening 777 flight DFW-MIA.

Wow that's a lot of hatred towards the old 763—spending money on a hotel plus adding a layover.
