AA Codeshare Flights

Hey everyone,

I'm not sure where the best place is to post this so here goes. I booked a business class flight from Doha back to the U.S. For a wedding. It was all AA codeshare flights but they were operated by Qatar since I am based in DOH.

The wedding has since been called off and I'm stuck with a $3200 credit with AA that I have to use in a years time. The problem is, I have all my US flights booked for the next year.

I'd like to go somewhere for around a week to play golf but I seem to be limited as to what AA and Qatar codeshare on. The agent on the phone wasn't too helpful either.

I wouldn't mind a SE Asia destination or South Africa but I can't figure out what flights would work for me since I can't find anything but U.S. Bound flights that the 2 codeshare together.

Any help is appreciated in assisting in trying to find a business class itinerary that is close to my original amount paid.

My original dates were Nov 17-24.

Please let me know if I'm missing something.

Thanks for your help!

AA Codeshare Flights

You'll likely benefit from reduced thanksgiving fares. Does Aa allow you to add a person to an itinerary to save money?

I'm not sure. I doubt it. I'm a solo traveler anyway at this time 😉

I'm going to move this to the AA board as it's specific to AA-issued tickets, and the uses of AA credits.

I think you're going to find that AA codeshares will only apply to flights that originate or terminate in the US, or connect to/from AA metal. Your question has more to do with what partner flights can be used with AA credits. Presumably somebody on the AA board will have guidance for you.

Note that if you buy a ticket for less than the value you have from the original ticket they will then issue a paper voucher for the remaining value. That voucher is good for another year from the date of new ticket purchase/processing.

I think your bigger problem may be in how your current credit/ticket is applicable to new flights. You'd have to talk to AA to ensure that it can be used on codeshares and/or flights originating outside of the US.

I spent hours on the phone with AA the past few days on this and finally found a routing to the Jacksonville area and my mom and dad will meet me there for some golf, so it turned out not being too bad of a deal. I was hoping to use it on Qatar flights more than anything, but it worked out in the end.

I was quite limited with what flights I could use, but thanks for your guys help.
