There are some bonus offers out there right now for 50k bonus miles for signing up for a regular AMEX Platinum. I would be better off getting the regular card with the bonus.

Thank you for the answer!

No, I am not getting a discounted rate. I was considering signing up for the card and wanted to find out first what the cost would be. That's all.

Oh. You could have easily found that on the Amex website. :)

I knew that the regular Amex Plat costs $450 per year, but thought maybe the BE card would be different.
Costco offered a Platinum card a while back. I don't think it cost anything.

Anyone that does west coast flying from DFW or ORD might be interested in VX's new small biz program if businessextraa is unimpressive...

I hung up, called EXP again. This time they cancelled the award but I still have to call BE to get the points reinstated. A lot of wasted time bouncing around.

BE said they are pretty much a separate entity than AA and therefore will charge me $150 for redeposit fee despite being EXP. Is this true? I had the BE award changed before, and they waived the change fee.

There is a published exemption for EXPs for Aadvantage. There is no such policy for BE as BE is NOT tied to a single Aadvantage membership.

Don't know if anyone is aware of it but for those using the BXP-1 (1-segment domestic paper upgrade certificates) it appears they are only being collected <50% of the time at the counter. This makes the cost of a one-segment upgrade about 350 pts. Cumbersome, but cheap.

Got 5000 miles to my personal AAdvantage account. It says AADVANTAGE -BUSINESS EXTRAA.

I am not sure if it was a promotion which I signed up some time ago. Does anyone know what it is?

I'm wondering the same thing, myself.

Except, if I wanted to hear about Virgin America's program I wouldn't go to the AA forum.

Well since it is a new program and there are a lot of compliants about BE I thought it might be interesting for those that didn't know about it. I thought that was what FT is all about, sharing info.

BE number randomly disappears from member profile

I've had exactly the same problem ever since that functionality was created. Called the BE desk some months ago, and they knew nothing of it. Called AA web tech support today, and they said I'm the first to report it (seems doubtful) and that they would look into it (yeah, right). I have little hope that they will find or even look for the bug. I put my BE number back into my profile this afternoon, and it already disappeared again tonight! (Usually takes a week or two.)

My workaround for this is to call the BE desk once a month or so and make them go through all my new reservations and make sure my BE number is in there (it's easy to forget to enter it, and there's no way for you to check it online yourself once you've finished booking). The BE desk actually suggested this workaround to me some months ago and professed to be happy to do it. But it's still a pain.

BE is way too much work for me. After at least six emails I am still waiting for points to post for my October flight to the Chicago FT seminars.

Missing credits? My experience with them is that you'll always get them, but you have to file the claim (by phone with a coopertive BE agent is best, I find) but you have to be patient...can take 120+ days because it has to be researched manually.

It says 12-14 weeks. Usually, I have to follow up at 16 weeks, and I get them at 18 weeks.

18 weeks? Good to see their slowly getting better!
