AA partners up with Cadillac [for ConciergeKey]
http://www.forbes.com/sites/dalebuss...-to-travelers/
At four major airports, American will identify members of its exclusive ConciergeKey program who face tight transfer times and escort them to their next departure gate in a Cadillac CTS, SRX or Escalade. Already underway at Los Angeles International Airport, this program also will be rolled out to New York’s LaGuardia and John F. Kennedy International airports and to the airline’s hometown Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

Later this month, customers can earn AAdvantage miles in exchange for test driving a new Cadillac. Members can earn 7,500 AAdvantage miles when they call a service desk and register a time to test drive a Cadillac at a nearby dealership. More information on this promotion will be available soon.

While I'm shocked to say there's now a Cadillac in the family (dad has an ATS-- and it's pretty darn good (horrible, horrible "Que" system being the huge exception to that statement,)) I must say at first blush, the tie-up between AA and Cadillac strikes me as a bit... not sure the exact feeling/wording; "old school" or "predictable and traditional" or something like that. Just a personal feeling based on almost nothing.
And, again, that's with the unanimous consensus (in the motoring world) that Cadillac is making some really, really good cars now-- really good. Not quite my M3, but the ATS beats everything in it's class-- pretty unequivocally-- and is a blast to drive.
But, still, somehow, the is tie-up leaves me, personally, a bit.. "meh."

btw: One doesn't have to go very far in (on this now 35-month program) to see the level of cynicism that reigns in the Delta forum.

While I agree that Cadillac sounds sorta "old school," Cadillac and Buick are big stuff in China right now, and China is a growing market. So while the brand may not impress everyone here, it may be impressive to that foreign demographic.
That, and the fact that Delta and United already grabbed the other brands.

I took the Benz transfer in Frankfurt with LH. It was great. Speed of the car is not an issue, since the speed limit on property is very low.
As to the BMW tie in, I think Cadiallac is probably better. I had a recent back seat ride to the airport in a new DTS, and it was very nice for what it was. Lots of room, comfort, and serenity.

I'd certainly believe that most people would place Audi, BMW, Lexus, Jaguar, and perhaps even Infiniti at a higher level than Cadillac.

I think this is awesome. I'm looking forward to hopefully having the chance to experience it at some point. CK is great but it's been fairly hit and miss in some respects (it's not a separate tier like UGS, it's sometimes inconsistently delivered) and things like this are a positive development.

Heck, you can ask what car they have, and if not to your liking, say thanks but no thanks, tell them to notify the gate that you're running for it, and be on your way. To have an airline maintain different fleets of cars is a bit ridiculous in my opinion. What's next? Different colored planes?

I think it's more about the existence of the service itself than the type of vehicle used and as an American company it's good to see AA using American cars for the offering. Cadillac is actually making some good products these days and they are just fine for a service like this. And I say that as a European car owner!

No of course not. A Cadillac is better than nothing, no question. And I do agree that after a decade of garbage they are now producing decent cars.
But if you asked most people if they preferred an ATS vs. say, an A6, 5series, XF, or GS, I don't think many would choose the Cadillac.
I'm nitpicking, of course.

Cadillac CTS is the equivalent of the cars you list.

Additional thought.
Do any of these car brands have Sound Control (block out exterior noises via the sound system), like Acura?
Given that airports tend to be noisy, maybe that would have been a better choice?
Otherwise you'll need to keep your noise canceling headphones on when using the service.
