You can read more about it here (if you have a strong stomach :))

Try your luck on Orbitz. Sometimes I've had issues booking things on AA.com that I was able to re-create on Orbitz.

I've seen this numerous times, but I was ultimately able to find award seats with some perseverance. The issue is annoying but is probably a glitch that will be fixed.

Does anyone else continue to have this problem? I was looking at flights for next year (way out in August/September 2014).

Avoiding the BA flights, I'm using ones that involve AA and Air Berlin.

When I click through, it says the flight is no longer available. However, it does this with *every* option. If it's not available, then don't show it to me!

was looking for flights to northern Europe in Aug/Sep as well and saw the same thing yesterday. Every day the AB LAX-DUS flight appeared to be the only YQ-free way across the Atlantic, and every one I tried to click through said "no longer available".

Experienced "phantom" availability on AB as well. Agent could see it was "available" online, but there were no seats actually in inventory. Perhaps more reports will help them straighten this one out.

Mile Redemption - AA.com inaccuracy? [AB phantom awards issue]

I am not sure how to title this thread - but searching other threads didn't really help answer my question: I am currently deployed somewhere not so nice in the world - but was given five days off. I am trying to fly my fiancee to Berlin to meet for the 5 days to meet her there. I went to the AA website and found r/t tickets from SAN to TXL mostly via Air Berlin. I selected the flights but when I tried to continue it bounces me back to the main screen. (Dec 11: AA159 & Dec 12: AB7421 and the return on Dec16: AB7420 & AA1531). I called the EXP desk who referred me to aa.com help desk. The help desk saw the booking and sent me back to the EXP desk who said they CAN'T see it and referred me back to the aa.com desk. These long distance calls aren't cheap and no one seemed eager to help. Is this normal for other carrier mileage redemptions? I have never booked on another carrier before for Reward travel. I am avoiding BA because the fuel surcharge alone would equal the cost of a full fare ticket.

Unfortunately this is a known glitch with aa.com showing phantom AB award availability. Flights that aren't really available show up as so, but when you click on them it takes you right back to the flight selection page.

Also discussed here very recently:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...t-me-book.html

but that thread didn't mention AB specifically in its title, so I understand it being hard to find.

FYI--
I was able to book LAX-LIM-CUZ in business class for October 2014 by calling AA.
I was also able to book CUZ-LIM-SCE in coach for October 2014 by calling BAEC.
Lastly, I'm using AA miles on AA metal from EZE-MIA-LAX to return in Nov 2014.

I feel very lucky about the above flights but I still need a few internal Argentina flights but so far no luck in award seats.

LAN Availability still nonexistent for AA?

Running into similar issues as discussed on this thread: LAN seems to release no award space to its Oneworld partners. I'm trying to book one-way LAX-EZE for May, and LAN shows ample business class space at its lowest saver price. However, the AA agent can't see any availability for these flights and months afterward. The BA and Qantas sites also show nothing. Is this a dead end?

Spurious Finnair / AY [phantom] award availability

Have been searching for a way home from Europe on Labour Day weekend on a Business award (yes, I know the folly of my task but it's a "last minute" business trip that needs to be subsidized from my AA account). I keep finding space on AY on the flight that would be ideal (HEL-YYZ on an A330, not the B757 that flies the route in winter) when doing the online search, but it is impossible to book. It continues to show but when I call AA, they can't see it on their system.

So just a heads up for anyone hoping to snag an award on this carrier. Suspect there's something wrong with the online booking engine. (Kinda like the old spurious LH F availability that kept showing up on the UA and Aeroplan booking engines but was never really bookable...until a week or so prior to flight date.)

Spurious FINNISH award availability

It is phantom. Check with BA engine.

Is this a relatively new issue? I recently found (and booked) 2 U seats on AY5 HEL-JFK for early September on AA.com. No issues whatsoever. Maybe I was just lucky.

Cheers,

There were some dates bookable but most showing weren't. You may have just lucked out in your search and required dates.
