Half empty or half full? A good start, anyway. I just wish it were this year, as otherwise I will use AS to HNL and HA to PPT.

The codeshare will be loaded this weekend (Sunday 20AUG12) and is effective for flights starting on Monday 10SEP12.
TN has 10 weekly frequencies on LAX-PPT, all operated on a 343.
This is clearly a case where TN is expecting to benefit the most from codesharing, as it's willing to pay a codeshare commission to AA on LAX-PPT (& v.v.) flights sold as AA* which is beyond the standard Interline Service Charge that applies reciprocally to all codeshared flights. AA's local fares [LAX-PPT] will match TN's.
Source for the above info
TN's J-class has old-style recliner seats with a pitch of 53'' (compare to AA's J-class on the 762 at 50" pitch). Source.

Nice! We're planning for SMF-LAX-PPT-LAX-SMF in March, it appears, so it will be nice to earn AAdvantage miles and credit on the LAX-PPT-LAX segments.
The Poerava Business seats are kinda meh, but it's better than coach. (And Poerava First is basically six Poerava Business eats that are allowed to recline flat, nothing special in the air.)

Of course, the segments will have to be booked as AA*.
BTW, turns out that AF also serves that market 3x/week (with a DL* codeshare), and AFIK it does have full lie-flat seats in J.
Happy diving!

AA marketing got in the game: https://www.aa.com/pubcontent/en_US/...rTahitiNui.jsp
Nice page, but I don't like the vagueness of this statement:
I think it deserve an asterisk saying that AAdvantage miles are earned only on Tahiti Nui operated flights that are marketed by American Airlines as codeshare, where the ticket shows an AA flight number.
AA* availability is still all zeroed out, though.

If you're an AAdvantage® member, you can earn miles which count toward qualification for AAdvantage elite status membership. You can also redeem miles for travel on Air Tahiti Nui flights.

I'm noticing something that someone might be able to help clarify. On certain dates (Jan 25, for example), AA only has economy availabilty for the codeshare, whereas TN's website shows Business and First availability with a TN flight number. Furthermore, I cannot find one date where someone could purchase an F ticket as an AA flight number, even though TN still has F availability on its website.
Is AA only allowed to put its code on a certain # of business class seats, or are they only allowed to do this on certain days?
