MDE / Medellin Contract Lounge (consolidated)
It is clear there is no Admiral's Club in MDE, but do they have any partnership with a local lounge to serve the J customers? if so, does anyone know if PLT/EXP in Y are also granted access? (like it used to be the case in some non-AC AA-branded lounges in other airports... mvd comes to mind)
thanks

Yes, there is a little generic lounge which AA provides for J/F. It's pretty small but there is usually a person in there offering you coffee or water as I recall. Nothing too special.
I don't know if they also provide access to EXP etc but I'm guessing someone else will...

I only used this lounge once and I was flying J at the time. If I recall, no one even around to check my credentials upon entry (the coffee and rolls lady was busy back in the kitchen).
Given paisa hospitality, I would imagine that PLT/EXP flying Y would be warmly welcomed into this room if there is actually someone now checking BPs/credentials.
That being said, there's really no benefit to using the lounge unless you're desperate for a free cup of coffee and bland roll. It's a tiny room. I don't remember any amenities like computer workstations, etc. No view of the ramp either.

I have Priority Pass and was hoping to use the Avianca-branded lounge on my return flight. The PP web site says the lounge is closed for refurbishment, but should open in mid-October. Does anyone know if that lounge is open now? And its operating hours? My MDE-JFK flight on Avianca leaves at 11.55pm and it looks like Ill just be sitting in the airport terminal all evening if this lounge is closed. Thanks!
