Choice to connect in LHR or BRU -- Which one is better?

I'm flying JFK - BCN and considering using VIPs to upgrade. with no availability on the nonstop I'm debating my connection options.

How has LHR been lately connecting from AA to BA?
What is the transfer like between AA and SN at BRU?

experiences and opinions are appreciated.

Thnx

First, I would connect wherever the eVIPs are immediately available.

If it's LHR, Her Majestly will sock it to you for connecting in her magnificent airport.

Don't expect much luck getting that eVIP to clear LHR-BCN on BA metal...

+1, and if you don't check luggage and allow enough time for connection, I'd take LHR over BRU. I prefer BA and Galleries First over SN or IB.

Slightly OT, but what are the lounge options at BRU for an EXP flying AA Business connecting to a same day economy SN flight?

If there availability for the eVIP now, take the flight that has availability.

If both LHR/BRU have availability, then I would look closely at connection times. I have found that the connection times offered at BRU are usually way too close for my comfort since the transfer from TATL to intra-European is not well thought out at BRU. On the other hand, now that T5 has been open for a while, I find the transfer much easier than it was during the transition process.

True, LHR fares are a higher b/c of the taxes. Since the OP is merely transiting thru LHR the "luxury tax" associated with upgrades ex LHR will not added.

I think if you purchased a ticket you will find the INT-INT Taxes at LHR are lower than your own Airport STL.

LHR - AA T3 to BA at T5 about 15 Mins by Bus no Immigration until BCN,
Use of BA Galleries, choice of 3 at LHR as OneWorld Sapphire. Showers, decent food. Lots of Free flowing booze. Baggage risky if checked and under 2 hours connection. As Oneworld Sapphire you can pre-select seats with more Legroom at front of Y Class. Slight chance of Sapphire Op-up.

BRU - Transfer Walk from Non-Schengen to Schengen Wing with Immigration Required, you might also have a problem using a Lounge at BRU as there is no OneWorld Partner in Schengen Departures Wing, AFAIK. All SN seats average leg-room, as they dont know or care what OW Sapphire is.

BRU Terminal dreary...T5 at LHR amazing.

Definitely BRU ! Potential long walks but a civilized airport.

LHR is for masochists or as last resort.

Depending on when the OP is taking the trip, LHR to BCN on BA flies from T1 until early 2009. So no galleries lounge. But an easier T3 to T1 transfer.
