AA50/51 Equipment Change

Rec'd an e-mail the other day letting us know that the our res for AA50 on 4 Oct had a schedule change: 520p departure became a 500p departure.

I didn't think anything of it until I went out to check another reservation today and noticed that the equipment type had changed from 777 to 763, and my 31H--and Mrs. Oneant's 31J--was now a crappy seat.

Once I got us switched over to 21A/B, I spot checked some other random AA50/51's and noticed that they'd all been moved over to the 763.

Also, J shows a 2-3-2 config. Since we know that all 763's have been upgraded, I'm concerned that this is some sort of a glitch and the equip type will change back to 777 and I'll lose those coveted 31 seats if I'm not checking every few hours.

Anyone else notice this?

AA typically downgrades one of the DFW-LHR (formerly DFW-LGW) planes to 763 during the fall. I am surprised that it is 50/51 because it is usually 78/79 that get the downgrade.

The changeover is around the 25th October from memory, I was looking at some flights the other evening and noticed the change had occurred.

In this particular case, 1 Sep appears to be the cutoff.

I'm surprised that AA doesn't notify in the event of an equip change. Are the folks who were downgraded from F to J, or the folks who had a seat assignment that no longer exists in the same cabin on the new equipment, just put out in seat-limbo until they notice what happened and take action themselves?

With the enhanced J service, these flights are well worth the upgrade.

I'm on 50 in December and it still shows the 777.

Exactly, as far as I knew it was only 78/9 that was changing, but it does seem that 50/51 is using a 763 on some days for some reason.

ITA is showing AA50 on 10/5 as a 767 -- anyone hear anything more about this? Not really a super huge fan of the 763... but haven't flown it in at least 2 years.

Cheers,

-Andrew
