My biggest wish would be for the reinstatement of widebodies on the TATL routes (and daily service on the later departure from CDG, too), as I dislike flying 757's across the pond--way more susceptible to turbulence, cramped cabins and of course less possibility to UG. In terms of routes, there are any number of southeastern destinations I wish they served from NYC (glad to see ATL coming back, though) but I guess the specific route I'd most like would be JFK-FRA.

I would like to see TUS-LHR. If not, then TUS to FRA, MAD or CDG.

Let me sing among those stars
Let me see what spring is like
On jupiter and mars.

Anywhere Continental USA - HKG
Then we could take AA flights and connect to regional Cathay flights. Right now the only way to Asia on AA flights to connect is via NRT.

It would be really nice for the Bay Area customers (and likely profitable for AA) to have SFO to anywhere international - LHR, CDG, MAD, perhaps? I don't know the economics involved, but why don't they ever try West Coast to South America nonstop?

Most transatlantic flights are flown from the east coast or mid-continent hubs and most transatlantic flights are flown from the west coast or mid-continent hubs. There are very few transocean flights operating from the opposite coast. If the O&D isn't sufficient, then connections often have to backtrack to get to a coastal hub. Makes more sense to connect those passengers at on-line gateways instead of flying them in reverse to get to the gateway.
Maybe that will change with the 787, which was touted as ideal for longer, thinner routes. Then again, if jet fuel is $3/gal or more when the 787 finally enters service, it will probably just replace 767s and 777s, lowering fuel costs somewhat.
AA and SFO? Probably never happen as long as UA/CO is alive and kicking. UA has a huge market share and a full hub at SFO, and AA would be foolish to try to challenge that position. Probably makes more sense for AA to try to dominate LAX than to challenge UA at SFO.
