I want to buy a Bose Wave Radio, how do I maximize my miles?

I'm looking to buy a Bose Wave Radio for Xmas and I'm trying to find a way to get some miles for the purchase.

I noticed that the Bose link from AAdvantage eShopping only seems to have a special promotion on the earphones.

I know Bose usually has AAdvantage promotions, but I couldn't find anything that would apply to the purchase of the wave radio. Can anyone help me find a way to maximize my miles earned from buying one?

note: I did not see this radio for sale at Circuit City, Sharper Image, or any other AAdvantage eShopping partners

Thanks,
BL17

the best way to maximize your miles and your quality is to use one of the AAdvantage shopping partners and get a radio that is hands down better than bose. that would be just about any radio on the market. you will get as many miles per dollar, but might spend less for better quality.

Believe it or not, I have exactly the same question. My husband had a Bose radio which he loved. Due to a malfunctioning transformer, virtually all the electronic devices in our house were zapped a couple of weeks ago due to a series of recurrent power surges. Now the electric company is having to pay for all of them to be replaced--good to get new stuff, but I liked my old stuff. Anyway, my husband wants another Bose, and I was going to order online but found the same thing as the first poster.

Ah, but how would spending less result in maximization of miles?

I don't think Bose sells the Wave Radio at any dealers, only through their, Bose stores, on-line store or 1-800 #. I tried looking for one several months ago and did not find any sold at retail.

I would use the AA credit card and get a much better Cambridge SoundWorks radio from www.hifi.com or Fry's electronics like the comparable CD 745i radio that even includes an iPod dock:

I have long believed that Bose products were all over-hyped, yet superbly marketed crap. However, I found this wave radio to be the exception to that rule. It is by far the best sounding of any comparably sized unit, and for my purposes, it is exactly what I want to buy.

That being said, can anybody help with maximizing miles on this purchase?

Thanks,
BL17

Bose is a marketing company that also sells audio equipment - I have a B&O countertop stereo and think that is marginal at best aswell - these companies are all about selling a name / design.

I recently got a card mentioning bonus miles for this no doubt because I got 500 AA points for checking out the home theater systems they offer. I don't think I have it but you might want to ask in the store if they have a promo code for you.

I just got a letter offer in the mail with an offer for bonus miles if you purchase the Bose Wave Radio by a certain time. I am not at home but when I get back I will have a look at the offer. I see from time to time offers in the Citi Cards statement as well.

Anyhow, this evening or tomorrow morning I will post the info on the letter I received and the Code if any for purchase and points.

Thanks--just what I was looking for. The only good part about having to buy all this new stuff is getting the miles!

Or four miles per dollar, plus the chance of bonus miles on top of that if the spend is over $250 (sounds as though it will be), if you pay with a MasterCard and go via AAdvantage eShopping:

Etymotic earbuds. Great sound reproduction, fit in one's pocket with room to spare, and top notch sound isolation (not noise cancellation, sound isolation - no electronics or batteries.)

I've had some "ear reduction surgery" (cancer removal) and could only use the Bose over-the-ear QC1s or -2s (built in fragility in the part connecting the headband to the earcups, a known efficiency) and tried the Etymotics ER6s - a winner!
