AA Introduces Hawaiian Cuisine
PR: http://www.aa.com/content/amrcorp/pr...1_hawaii.jhtml
I think it's a nice touch. They have sample menus. Funniest part is the "prior to arrival" snack on one of them listed as "premium snack mix."
But all kidding aside, it appears that they are working to be more creative on Hawaii routes. All menus are "designed" by chef Sam Choy!

A nice development, to be sure.
I remember when special menus were offered to coach passengers to Hawaii.
Eight hour flights ORD-HNL and those in the back are invited to buy some snacks. Sheesh.

Dessert: Malasadas - I wish
Appetizer: Spam Sushi
Meal: Plate lunch of rice, Char Siu Pork and Kalua Pork
And don't forget the generous scoops of poi!
I bet we'll find the plane caked with that.

Ugh. Just got back and this would have been vastly superior to the pasta bowl. Not that I don't LOVE the pasta bowl or anything...

Thank you AA for bringing back what always used to be served on this route before your recent cut-backs to "stay competitive". How about the Aloha wear for the FAs too?

Careful, you don't want people complaining about the attire of AA staff

At least Sam Choy is a respectable chef who creates his own Hawaiian dishes through a fusion of local and Asian influences. That's a whole lot better than tossing a few chunks of pineapple on something and calling it "Hawaiian." The Wasabi Salmon should be quite tasty unless they manage to overcook it with the plane warming system or whatever they use to keep it hot.
As far as bringing this sort of cuisine (or any sort of free meal) back to coach on AA, dream on. Management has made its decision and will no doubt keep to it.

Does anyone know when this 'enhancement' is proposed to start?
I fly DFW-HNL in a month and would welcome the change. The web page does not seem to indicate any timing .. other than the 'bread of the month' seems to indicate October. The menu samples indicate 10/07 which must mean this month ...
Or should I start a new thread .. will my HNL flight have the new menu???
