18 minute hold for EXP desk at 7PM CT, ...?
Anyone else experiencing this kind of outstandingly bad delay? Nothing significant I know of happening system wide, but perhaps I missed somethign as I am in Lima, Peru right now.

1. Big storms passed ORD and DFW today.
2. If you ever reach a hold time of a few minutes at the EXP desk, hang-up can call back right away.

I did that after the first 5 minute hold. Hate to lose the position as I am still holding on this damned call.

took suggestion, now get busy signal after I punch 2 -- want an agent
Here I am stranded in Lima due to LAN fu***up on a oneworld award and can't get anyone in AA to help. Local office basically told me to piss up a rope and call LAN. Feeling the love

... took 5-7 minutes today around 5pm eastern and additional cancellations were just starting. I can only imagine the hell that would be ORD tonight and tomorrow.

DFW has just gone to a ground stop, no idea about ORD. Either way getting through to anyone on the phones tonight will be a miracle!

Possibly related ... I don't know what the AA.com Web Services may be able to do for you, but I was able to get an agent within a few minutes. They're investigating some website problems for me (fare keeps changing and I can't hold or purchase).

Weather problems in NY tonight also contributed to problems. I too got the busy signal a couple of times, but also was able to get through after only a few minutes when I didn't get the busy signal.

Bad weather causes problems. Look on the bright side - if you were not calling the EXP desk, you might have been on hold for an hour or more.

Originally booked on an AC flight to LGA at 640p. Arrived at the airport at around 400p or so only to find that AC already had cancelled all of its flights into all NYC airports (what a bunch of wusses!).
Called the EXP desk (this sentence is the only connection this story has to this thread). The 545p YUL-JFK Eagle flight already was oversold, so I bought a ticket for the 725p. Tried to stand by for the earlier flight, but it was a no go. And although at 600p the 725p flight continued to be listed as on time, I could see that the inbound aircraft hadn't even left JFK yet, so there was no way the flight could depart on time.
So I jumped on EF and discovered an AC flight to BOS that was scheduled to depart at 640p and was showing Y2. I called AC, grabbed one of those seats, and got to sit next to a leggy French-Canadian woman for the short flight, which landed at 815p and had me into my Boston apartment (sans the leggy Canuck ) by 850p (which, BTW, is before the 545p flight even landed at JFK).
Meanwhile, the inbound JFK-YUL flight ended up cancelling, which resulted in the YUL-JFK flight I was supposed to be on being cancelled too. Two of my clients who I left behind now have to spend the night at YUL. (Not so bad: last I checked they were headed over to the casino.)
I LOVE making the right decision on switching flights.
