TRAILING THREAD to Unofficial Guide: AAdvantage Elite etc.
This lengthy "TRAILING THREAD" contains much of the "uncontent" and older, out of date and "fattening" content of the sticky thread beginning with this title. Some information that was correct at the time of posting is likely to be incorrect in 2007 (or later.) The intent is to copy over posts that are merely dilatory today - historical, acknowledgments, thank yous and the like so members can find content without poring over 99 pages of thread, as well as those that provide outdated information (earning Challenge status on non-AA metal or codeshares is a major one.) This is being driven by comments and request from members, and we hope it will be of use to our members.
Remember, this thread will only contain historical and "non-information." Do NOT post your request or real information here, as it is likely you will not get a reply. If you wish to edit posts(s) of yours for resubmission to the sticky, please do so and add a note at the end of this thread or notify a Moderator (JDiver is the guilty one, so...)

FewMiles, our sincere thanks for the great work you started here!

Looking good FewMiles -- just one small correction on the fare tables.
Q-points are awarded per mile earned, not miles flown.
For AA, this makes no difference, since all Y classes earn 100%.
But on oneworld partners, this can have a big effect. For example, on BA, in V class:
LHR-SYD 10573 mi
Miles awarded: 10573 x 0.25 = 2463
Q-miles awarded: 2463
Q-points awared: 2463 x 0.5 = 1232
Stingy...

I think you should mention "O" class as a warning to other passengers here as well. I learned the hard way.

One more thing...
Just realized that you do mention "O" class further down (AA fare classes). Should've read through the end before posting here.
You still might want to add it under Table 1 though for completeness' sake.
One more suggestion:
Under "AA fare classes" you use Plan AAhead on a couple occassions. I thought these were all called MileSAAver now, right?
Again, thank you for this great piece of work!

Thank you, FewMiles! Excellent work!
Just a suggestion: You might want to add the fare booking class 9 to your table. It is unusual (because the rest of the codes are letters), but I have heard of 9 being used as a deep discount class.

Thanks everyone for your kind words.
jamespvg and Yeti88, thanks for the info. ^ I'll get the corrections in next I can upload changes which won't be for a few weeks, unfortunately. By that time, I'll have more of the new version of the Unofficial Guide completed too.
FewMiles..

FewMiles -- Excellent! :-:
One minor correction: In "Table 2: Mileage partner carriers" on the "Fare Table" page ( http://members.shaw.ca/fewmiles/AA/new/fares.html ), the proper 2-letter code for the new SWISS is LX, not SR.
P.S. I also noticed that information in the "AA fare classes" and "American Airlines - Eligible booking classes and mileage accrual rates" tables is outdated. Perhaps, you have not updated that page yet.
