Fare Question (seatcounter.com) (A Class)

Are F,A, and P all first class seats? For instance a flight on seatcounter shows 3 F and 2 A fares left (all other fares are sold out). Does that mean there are a total of 5 first class seats, or only 3?

Sorry, I'm learning, but I did do a search and found a good link (http://members.shaw.ca/fewmiles/AA/recht/fares.html) and that leads me to believe A and P are also first class, however, based on some people's replies to other threads, it seems that F is all people talk about when using seatcounter (or expertflyer).

Thanks

Three. They're willing to sell all three of those in F, but only two of the three in A.

F, A and P are all first class inventories, but A and P are a subset of F. So F3 A2 P0 means there are 3 first class seats remaining, of which 2 can be sold as A inventory seats.

Thanks!

It means there are 3 first class seats of which they are willing to sell 2 of which as 'A' fares (generally as YUP's or mileage upgrades).

A, F, and P are first class; D, I and J are business. There are probably only three available seats.

To further elaborate:

F = full fare F seats.

A = discounted F seats (YUPs), F seats for people traveling on first class round-the-world tickets, and F seats used for passengers upgrading from Y on 2-class flights, and from J on 3-class flights, using either miles or VIP upgrade certificates.

P = more deeply discounted F seats (usually KUPs).

Z (a "hidden" fare class not viewable on seatcounter) = F seats available for award travel.

A, P and Z are all subsets of F.

Thanks, I knew about J from other threads. This is an MD80 flight so none of the D, I, or Js but that saved me from future questions.

Thanks

To elaborate yet further- don't read FewMiles for fare classes. While some of it is correct, other information is ourdated and can lead (and has led) to problems.

Cheers.
