Qf

The QF exception has been there for ages.....never really paid attention to the JL ones....

To work around these embargo dates, of course, we usually do a oneworld award....

That's very interesting considering I booked a J award on QF 11 and 12 for May-June 2007.

Great, but what does it actually mean? What is the exact definiton of an embargo date?

I mean, for example, a date could conceivably be emargoed only for certain types of awards and not others, but I know of no place (certainly not this page, and certainly not for example the JAL or Qantas pages which link to this page) that explains what an embargo precisely means. There's only a vague statement (right before each link) about "Using AAdvantage miles for airline award travel is subject to capacity controls." But we all know that capacity controls can work differently for different specific awards (for example, for a given date, not involving embargos, there may be economy award seats but no business award seats, or vice versa).

And right above my post is one from WRCSolberg who booked a QF award (in J) on an embargo date! So was that an embargo date only for Y awards??

I don't know what it means to you, but when it says : 2006/07 all QF 11/12 flights are off the table for F and J award tickets, that pretty much sums it up for me....

It's nice to hear that there is a loophole available as per WRCSolberg's post, but I would not count on it.

There is a reason AA put up that page.......
