Overall unengaged and indifferent crew. You can't blame them on a flight like this. Don't plan on complaining as I slept the entire time after the meal and they brought me everything I asked for. FA working my side of the aisle was chewing gum throughout boarding, menu & headset distribution. Same FA came around with plastic bread basket expecting passengers to help themselves, both unprofessional and unsanitary. Passengers were not addressed by name. Beef was very chewy, overcooked and one of the worst I've had on AA in quite some time and entree was not well presented.

JFK-LHR AA116 11:59p departure - Mar 2011 - J menu

Summary: 11:59p departure, starting with Dinner, followed by a light breakfast about 1h landing. I skipped dinner and managed to get some sleep. Asked the FA to wake me about 15 min before 'prepare for landing' so that I could wash up, and even had time for some tea. Light load with only 11 in the J cabin. LHR-JFK AA107 5:30p departure - Mar 2022 - J menu

Summary: 5:30p departure starting with dinner, followed by a light meal approx 1h30 prior to landing (we had a short weather hold). The beef was ok, but not great, and the green mashed potatoes were a bit strange. The Châuteauneuf-du-Pape was excellent! Did not notice that the pizza was veggie when I ordered it - while I am a proponent of including more vegetarian options, I was not a fan. I was admittedly in a gloomy mood for the flight, so that may have colored my impression.

DFW-FRA AA70 2:45p departure - Mar 2011 - J menu

Summary: 2:45p departure starting with dinner, followed by breakfast prior to landing. The flight is blocked at 9h35, so I'd hoped to get some decent sleep in the middle, but the FAs did not start dining service until 1h after takeoff and started breakfast service a full 2h prior to landing! Add to that a screaming 2-year old whose mother took her on a tour of the entire J cabin for 30 min at 3:30a CEST, meant essentially zero good sleep. The halibut was good although a little firm; the omelette was tasty and the kiwis were fantastic. The Châuteauneuf-du-Pape was still excellent!

I'm sure the FAs were great but not sure this counts as "above and beyond" in a premium cabin. What were they supposed to do, tell the pax "tough luck" and not bring his jacket back.

LHR-JFK AA105 2:00p departure - Apr 2011 - J menu

Summary: 2:00p departure starting with lunch/dinner, followed by a light meal approx 1h prior to landing. The fish appetizer was a scary cube of unidentifiable, cold fish. The beef was excellent - tender and perfectly cooked. The chicken in the cold chicken plate was surprisingly tender and juicy. The blackberry mouse cake was a bit tart for my taste, but still good. Disappointed that they seem to have rotated out the Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but the Saint-Émilion was very good, as was, of course, the port. FA service was excellent and attentive, making frequent passes through the cabin during the flight.

Wow, have they really eliminated the hot follow-on breakfast option from JFK-LHR? Or is the omelet an offering only in F on 3-class flights? (so J/Y get Continental Breakfast, F gets Hot Breakfast?)

It was certainly a good reason to sleep longer and get a real breakfast in the Arrivals Lounge (N.B.: which I snatched from the warming pans just as they were taking them away around 12:00 noon)

Are the international steerage menus all the same? I'm doing ORD-HEL in July.

If I bring my own little ceramic bowl of mixed nuts, will they warm them for me?
