Not sure if AA (eagle?) is planning ahead?
I have been on several RJ's lately where the FA on board was being 'check ride' trained by another FA. So they may blocking that seat for 'training' purpose.
OR they be blocking it as a matter of course to allow a crew member to dead-head. I do not recall if I have ever seen a pilot in a jump seat on an RJ .. So it may be blocked for Crew.. just like they always block a specific seat on international flights as Crew (and FA) rest seats.
Or do I give them too much credit?!
Personally I used to love 1A . until I had several fights with the FAs of where to put my small computer carry-on. I would always ask about the closet or a cabinet and 50% of the time that was OK. 50% of the time it was not .. so I put it in the first overhead. THEN I almost got into fights with 3CD passengers who insisted THAT compartment was for THEIR bags. Since I tended to board first, I normally got my way, but the people in 3CD would slam the compartment shut (even tho I closed it saying 'full') and yell at the FA about WHERE they were supposed to put their stuff.
Decided 1A was not worth the hastles.
mantra .. exit row exit row
