Question EXP qualification and the q-points multiplier

Given that one can qualify as EXP by flying as "little" as 66,667 miles in paid premium classes (giving you a 1.5x q-points multiplier), how about the FT community's "best" multiplier?

This year, I've made EXP, 102,473 q-points, with "only" 68,805 flown miles, for a multiplier of 1.49x. I'm sure there's someone out there who's done "better".

BTW, this is nothing to be proud of, really. It just says that you've spent a lot of time and money in the air!

I was expecting to be at the other end, with a ratio of .5 q miles for my miles, but when I looked it works out at .6 - something I don't understand as all my flights have been L or N fares!

67,000 q miles YTD, should make EXP by Sept on L & N fares without any mileage runs!!

There is a 500 q-miles / 500 q-points minimum, thus your shorter flights have a higher points/miles ratio.

Just checked mine, and I'm at .63, all with L/N. Must be the 500 q-mile minimum bumping it up a little.

But I only have 1 flight that would be subject to the 500 minimum, the rest are over 1,000 miles each ?

After reviewing the math & detail, it appears that 5 of my flights this year posted with the full 1:1 ratio, even though they were deeply discounted. However, I can't see what the fare basis was.

Some deep-discounted economy booked in 'L' were awarded full q-points (1:1 ratio) this year. This was done since 'L' and 'Q' exchanged roles, making 'L' discount economy, instead of deep-discount economy. Instead of reviewing each itineraty to see if an 'L' fare was purchased before or after the change, AA opted to give 100% 1-points to all 'L' fares. Not sure when this would end - perhaps someone in the know could enlighten us.

I am at .74 ratio and all except for two flights were L and N. The two non L and N were V fares and I have had no short flights.

In fact I have exactly 40 segments this year and 116,350 YTD miles. So that means my average flight was 2909 miles.

I think perhaps when I upgraded I received 1 to 1 credit.

Sorry to continue the corruption of this thread, but...

Yeah- the Q-points this year are pretty outta whack- I have 36,747 Q-miles YTD and 34,420 Q-points. Only one segment <500 miles (only three <2475), and my most $$ ticket was $427- and that was JFK-NRT!

I found the answer regarding L-Q fare switch in another thread.

""Since Apr 1, L class earns 100% q-points.

Q class still earns 100% q-points until Jun 3, then it goes down to 50%.""

I'm 101,042 Q-points on 67,839 Q-miles. So my ration is 1.489.

I'd probably be right at 1.5, but I had one connection to ORD that priced better doing PHX-ORD then ORD-DEL on separate tix. Corp. policy is coach on domestic tix. I tried calling the travel agent and AA to get my normal no additional cost, get additional Q-points and F cabin, but it was sold out, and there was a fare increase. I never fully understood the whole fare increase arguement from AA.
