Would you Upgrade J to F on a 777-200 ?
I am debating if flying MIA-MAD on the 777 3 Class merits upgrading from J to F. What are your thoughts on the matter.
Thanks.
Thanks.

only if a bigger seat and more comfort are important to you. Otherwise, no.

F is fully flat and has all aisle access, whereas J is angle flat and you have a neighbor. On the 772, I find upgrading very worth it, on the 77W, less so.
Note that there isn't much difference in soft product between J and F.

having done both J and F in the "older" 777, if you are travelling by yourself, I would do it,
having a neighbor step over me during the flight can definitly disturb your sleep. Plus you get PJ's in F, and they will make up your seat for you to sleep.
agree with Djokison, on the 77W, it was a waste.

I'd do it if you can get the two middle seats together.

BTW, keep in mind swaps are relatively common on that route. You may end up with a 77D or 763.
I vote yes on the upgrade but only becuase you have never tried it before.

I will always upgrade slant J to the Flat F for a long flight if I want to get some real sleep. Always.
I'll do J on the 77W but not on the 777.
PS A nightmare scenario for ME is J on an 77W gets subbed to a 777. My nice lieflat goes to a slanted ironing board.

No brainer, do it. I'm normal size and weight and the slanted J product does not work well with me. When I wake up I feel like this (without the cops of course ):

Every chance I have ever had (at least 20x.) To be fair it has always been with an SWU- to do it with miles and a hefty co-pay might change the answer (or at least require some more thought/rationalization .)

On the 772, definitely upgrade to F. It's a big difference.
I agree with the earlier post that on 773 it's not as big of a difference. I'd only do it if I could get a window seat in F. The middle seats are terrible and less private than J.

The advertised "turndown" service does not always happen, the FAs may ignore you and don't do it unless you ask. Just make your bed yourself, it is not too complicated.
As for upgrading...why not? Basically, you will get a bigger, more functional seat and somewhat more private seat. AND it will be truly FLAT and HORIZONTAL.
