Flight not listed on AA.com but AA say its operating?

Flight not listed on AA.com but AA say its operating?
I have what I consider to be an unusual situation that I am trying to figure out. I've already had a lot of schedule changes on a booking because of the US/AA merger and I have been monitoring things closely so I was suspicious when I saw this:
AA2176 JFK-PHX replaced the canx AA261 but with the same flight-times. Looking at say 16JUL AA.com doesn't list AA2176 the only non-stops are the two US services. In fact, AA.com doesn't show a single AA2176 ever. Check over at ITA and there is no AA2176 recognised at all for the entire year and nothing comes up at Kayak via any consolidator for such a flight. On the other hand, USAirways.com list the flight but show it as sold out in all classes.
I've phoned AA who offer to sell me a (cheap) seat on the flight and they can see it fine in SABRE and therefore tell me its operating.
But still, I find this odd. Can it just be an IT error? That while AA2176 is aparently operating all the times it should its not being offered for sale except via telesales and the flight is definitely NOT sold out or even close to it.
I'm aware of the consolidation, but then there is still a non-stop AA flight with a different flight number that operates throughout June and into July.
My fears are for a cancellation!

Expertflyer is showing the following non-stops on 16JUL. AA 2176 exists but the lower booking classes are zeroed out.

I got switched to this on a future trip in Feb 2016. I did the same check and noticed it didn't come up in search but overall I'm not worried, it's a real flight...hopefully it isn't them spreading US Air planes on their AA routes

I see it on AA.COM
Both in "Flight Schedules" and when attempting to create a one-way booking on 16-JUL-2015. $297 lowest price for AA2176 departing JFK at 10:42 arriving PHX 12:55. ??

The power of FT! Someone at AA has read this and fixed the bug. Reassuring to know. AA2176 now showing up on all days...
