Paid or award ticket? If you are using your miles, then the waived fees for EXP ticketing would apply. If a paid ticket & you are traveling together, then yes; if you simply book their ticket, then no.

Of course, there will now be reports that when "I booked a ticket for my cousin's dentist's sister and she got free checked bags and priority access"

Started my first job out of college last year that requires a lot of flying. Made Platinum last year with a few runs at the end of the DEQM promotion. Didn't fly very much at the beginning of the year but went on several runs and visited new cities.

Just made EXP for the first time!

Points: 63,795
EQM: 103,794
Segments: 71

Just hope that work requires me to fly and no more work at home so I make it a bit more naturally next year.

After years of bouncing from no status to plat, and back to nothing, I finally made it to EXP:

YTD Elite Qualifying Points 30,572
YTD Elite Qualifying Miles 51,453
YTD Elite Qualifying Segments 100

Wow - you were on even shorter distance segments that I was! Congrats!

My wife and I will both be EXP for next year. Regarding complimentary upgrades, should we split our PNRs before T-100 for best chances?

I assume that if we don't do anything and keep ourselves on the same PNR, we'll only be upgraded if 2 spots open up at the same time, otherwise it'll go to the next single EXP on the list. Is that correct?

I don't know if things have changed, but we usually split ours up right after I book the tickets. There have been many cases, especially this year, where only one of us gets the upgrade.

I split a short while before the 100 hour window so that I can keep them together prior to that for easier reservation management. Since the time of the split doesn't matter, this is easier for me. But yes, definitely split prior to T-100.

Cheers.

Thank you FlyMeToTheLooneyBin & brp!

Any instances where both were upgraded while on the same PNR? I'm sure unlikely, but just wondering.

Used to happen all the time. Seems more difficult now.

Dear 100 segment EXPs,
I can't imagine the pains that the seats have given your butts!
It's painful enough when you travel a few long hauls West Coast to So.Africa (like me) but 100 segments, jeez!

for me, so far:
YTD Elite Qualifying Points 68,842
YTD Elite Qualifying Miles 91,381
YTD Elite Qualifying Segments 28
(just when over $40k on Citi Exec MC, so requalified for EXP already)

It's not as bad as you think - look at my stats, I flew less than you!
