Gogo wifi cheaper to buy in advance than in flight? [Yes.]
On the AA Wifi page, the day pass is $16.
In the flight, I paid $19. Is it always more expensive to buy Gogo in flight, with any airline?
Interestingly the link to pay $16 on AA wifi page is inaccessible in the flight. Seems like a deliberate move by Gogo.

Yes, always buy on the ground ahead of time
On all my LGA-DFW-LGA runs, it's $20.95 on board, so you save $5

In advance, you can buy a one hour pass for $5. With most of my flights in the 900-1200 range, I've found these serve me best, especially since I may not need to be online the entire flight. Even if I use 2, that's still cheaper than the flight/day pass.

I buy my day passes in advance online for $16 and thought I could be clever and help a seatmate who wanted to buy it (was $21 on this flight!) and let my seatmate use my laptop to purchase a pass but alas Gogo is clever and has blocked that purchase link from the AA.com/wifi site.
@swag - clever idea. I think I will do the same and buy 2 1-hour passes per flight.

They are good for any AA/US flight within a year, correct?
The irony:
IND-DFW, depart 7am, $19
DFW-PDX, depart 5:30pm, $21
Day's almost over and they're charging more for a day pass?

They'll charge more for longer flights versus shorter ones.

If you fly more than 43 segments a year on different airlines, it's well worth it to buy a year's worth. $650 up front passes on a lot of savings down the line. If you only fly AA, then it's even less than that. It would only be like 36 segments to justify the cost IIRC.
I personally use wifi every time it's available. I fly several airlines with Gogo, so it's a no-brainer for me. Will end the year with 72 segments, so that's a net savings of $430.

60 segments on AA and I buy the monthly pass that auto-renews for about $40/month.

It also depends on when you buy onboard too.
I was flying ALB-CLT-PHX and bought the all day pass on the ALB-CLT leg. My wife bought on the CLT-PHX flight and paid more than I paid.

Can I buy gogo in flight as a gift. My daughter and I will be on a MIA-LAX flight in March. She would love this.
I actually have an account with gogo. Should I sign up under my account and purchase, or do it separately. Also will she get some type of code to use when she signs on using her own laptop?

I received an email from AMEX, that (soon) they will be giving Business Plat Card members 10 GoGo passes for use on several airlines--AA is one of them.
