Looks like the road behind the runway near the in&out burger.. but I can't really tell. It was somewhere near the hanger.

Nobody was on the plane and noone got hurt.

Sorry, flipside's post was not visible when I posted. We had the live video feed, but no explanatory audio, so I was hoping someone knew what was happening.

OK. Now I see the link. Back by the maitenance facility. Nowhere neara freeway. Not even a major (or minor street).

It is odd, for sure, but not at all what I thought it was.

Ground transport: Jet rolls onto street

http://www.cnn.com/2002/TRAVEL/NEWS/...ane/index.html

"The Boeing 767 hit some power lines and its nose extended about 15 feet onto World Way West, a four-lane street used by airport employees, authorities said. "

Maybe they're testing a new door-to-door product.

It did not even get all the way out on to World Way - let alone the 405.

I am at LAX (hotel nearby) and trust me - the title of this thread is MISLEADING - it never got near the 405.

Here's the AP photo on the incident -- VERY funny! http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...168/1dnbw.html . Incidentally right now it's the most emailed picture of the last 6 hours in Yahoo!

The AP story is at http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp.../runaway_jet_6

[Edited to correct story URL]

Sorry

I'd fix it if I could. At first that's what they were reporting.
