AA and Avios separate booking question

AA and Avios separate booking question
I can book a flight from Miami to the Caribbean using Avios but have to purchase the DCA to MIA segment (not available using Avios and don't have enough AA miles).
I will then have two separate round trips. Will AA tie the two together? Should I even worry about this?
