Blah. I hope the new logo and branding are here to stay (at least)

Agreed. The tail design MUST go. But I am becoming okay with the logo...though I really will miss the eagle and bicolored AA.

I'm not a big fan of the new livery, but two things stick out to me when I read this article.

First, some people at AA will not support anything suggested by AA management. I honestly think that if Horton et al had suggested free ice cream for everyone, some employees would have complained about the flavor.

Second, Dougie is still playing the AA labor vs management card.

I think the logo is weak. Doesn't stand out.

For example, look at your phone app button on your phone. It just doesn't work.

In the scheme of things, this is trivial. However, the fact that one thing was said pre merger and now the story has already changed is ringing alarm bells.

Wonder how happy the unions will be when all of a sudden there's a change in the promises made to them?

Yes... that was clearly AA's problem all along. They weren't spending nearly enough money churning the branding.

Anyone here savvy in Photoshop? I would like to see what FT'ers can come up with (using old AA and US scheme to invent something new). I'll be honest....I'm more of a zeros and ones type of guy, so I cant come up with any cool/creative.

Like most here...i hate the tail, and that's what i would love to see samples from the group. I really like the rest of the body/logo/colors.

I'm with you. The AA is iconic. Should not have been jettisoned in the name of modernizing, IMHO. There are more subtle ways with the same result. Not to mention, the AA logo is branded onto so many hard surfaces throughout the system. Looking around, you begin to see how many airplane interiors, wall systems, even trash cans are embossed. Seems grossly inefficient to trash it all (pardon the pun).

Ask user ZSOFN

He came up with the best pre-official merger/livery announcement 'mock-ups':

To me, the article and Parker's comments say nothing. It's nothing more than a non-answer to a group of flight attendants.

Thanks for posting that IflyonAA - I somehow missed seeing those the first time around. I dig the eagle on the tail!
(Course I would dig just about anything on the tail more than what we have right now!)

Oh good. I am not the only one who hated the tail !

Why couldn't AA adopt the new stylised eagle on their tales instead?

Short, simple, modern looking. We don't need the american flag (and an ugly one at that) to remind anyone that the plane with the words "American" is an american plane !

Look for example at "Air France". Their tail is so simple and yet so modern. Pity about the rest of it though.
