Help on figuring out mileage posting for Platinum Challenge

I took the Platinum Challenge in December and I am trying to figure out the miles that posted to my account.

The flight was LAX-SYD in QF First:

Actual miles: 7487 (I was a AA Gold at that time)

2 items posted on my AA.com statement:
LAX-SYD Miles: 7487 + Bonus: 5616
Platinum Challenge -G Points: 8423

I am assuming that the 5616 bonus is 50% for first and 25% for AA Gold Status.

However, what is the 'Platinum Challenge -G Points'? I remember reading that the flight that makes Platinum status will get the 100% bonus, but 8423 is an odd number?

(Edited to add this..) I also signed up for the double mile bonus from US-Australia on QF First or Business. I assume that this hasn't posted yet?

Thanks for your help.

Bagold: When I made plt via the challenge, they credited from the point I reached 20,000 points and not the whole flight. Perhaps you should see what the miles add up to with that scenario.

PLT challenge G-points is equal to the class of service bonus plus the average of the GLD and PLT elite status bonuses.

CoS bonus = 50% of 7487 = 3744
GLD elite bonus = 25% of 7487 = 1872
PLT elite bonus = 100% of 7487 = 7487

Average of GLD and PLT bonuses = (1872+7487)/2 = 4680

4680 + 3744 = 8424

OK, I'm off by one mile, but that may have to do with the way the calculations are rounded or truncated. I did this calculation for another person too. See: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum71/HTML/002110.html

FewMiles,
Thanks for the calculation and the link to the previous post! Would not have figured that out by myself.

So, they give me a 5616 bonus for Class of Service and being a AA Gold member. And then I get another bonus for completing the challenge! That's pretty good. I assume that the promotion of double miles to Australia is not included in any of those bonus miles then! Wow, so one trip will give me 7487+5616+8423=21526 that is already posted plus their double mile promotion = 29013! Cannot beat that for a 7487 mile flight. Thanks AA!
