AMR agrees to pay up to $500,000 to settle a government lawsuit

AMR Corp.'s AA said Tuesday it has agreed to pay up to $500,000 to settle a government lawsuit claiming the airline engaged in discriminatory hiring practices.

American Airlines agreed to pay nearly $1.7 million to settle government charges that the company discriminated against job applicants for medical reasons, the Labor Department said Thursday.
